Find your birth time
RectificationDon’t know your exact birth time?
We can pin it down using events in your life: a move, a wedding, the birth of a child. Your document shows exactly how we arrived at the minute.
From $99
A request doesn’t commit you to anything. First, we’ll discuss your case.
Does this sound like you?
- Your mom remembers “around noon” or “early in the morning,” but there’s no time on any of your documents.
- There’s a time on your birth certificate or hospital record, but it’s suspiciously round, like 2:00 PM or 9:30 AM. It was probably rounded.
- You tried building your chart online and noticed that half an hour either way gives you a different chart.
- You’re an astrologer, and your client only knows their birth time roughly.
A birth chart is calculated for the minute and place of birth. In a few minutes the sky shifts, and the chart shifts with it. A four-minute difference moves the dates in a forecast by about a year.
Finding your birth time (astrologers call it rectification) means searching for your minute using events that have already happened in your life.
If you’re ordering a birth chart reading or a year-ahead forecast from us, you don’t need to order this separately, because the birth time check is already included in the price. This page is for people who only need the time.
Check these first
- The long form of your birth certificate. The short form often leaves out the time; the long form, which you can order from the vital records office of the state where you were born, often includes it.
- Hospital records from your birth, if the hospital still has them.
- Your baby book: parents often wrote the time down there.
- Relatives who remember the day: parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
If you find a recorded time, we’ll check it against events in your life. That takes less work and costs less than a search from scratch.
What you’ll see in the document
The document shows the time we found and every step of how we got there.
- The minute you were born: one time, not “sometime between eight and nine.” Your birth chart is built on it, and the periods and dates in a forecast are calculated from it.
- How confident we are in the result.
- Why this minute: for each event in your life, you can see how it confirms the time.
- Which other times were considered, and why each one was ruled out.
- All the calculations come with the document. If you like, another astrologer can double-check them.
The minute is yours to keep. You can build your chart with it in any astrology software, take it to your own astrologer, or order a reading from us.
How we find your minute
Records often give the time only roughly, because it’s written down after the birth and rounded. Your mom remembers “around noon.” The exact minute can still be found, from events in your life. Each possible birth minute gives a slightly different chart, and each chart puts the major events of a life in different years. So we start from events that have already happened to you, like a move, a wedding, the birth of a child, or a job change, and look for the minute where they all fall into place. It’s like finding the right key: many look alike, but only one turns the lock.
How two hours become one minute
The birth time is known only roughly. Every answer and every event narrows the search:
An example with made-up data.
- mom remembers: in the morning, between seven and nine 2 hours
- question how you dress 1 hour 20 minutes
- question what your childhood home was like 1 hour
- 2012 a wedding 20 minutes
- 2016 a daughter is born 6 minutes
- 2019 a move 1 minute
In this example, the time found is 8:23 AM. The chart is built on this minute, and the periods and dates in the forecast are calculated from it.
We check a recorded time the same way. If events in your life confirm it, it stays. If they don’t, we search the minutes around it.
The system works through the options, and the astrologer decides which one is yours. If two times a few minutes apart fit equally well, the astrologer will ask you one more question, for example about the home you grew up in. Your answer shows which of the two is yours.
What we’ll need from you
- Your date and place of birth.
- Your birth time as you know it: “between five and seven in the morning,” “around noon,” or what’s on your birth certificate. Give it in local time as it was that day; we’ll take care of time zones and daylight saving time.
- A few important events in your life, with dates: moves, marriage, the birth of children, changes at work, surgeries. The month and year are enough.
- Answers to a few everyday questions: how you dress, how organized your paperwork is, how you treat your car, what the atmosphere was like in the home you grew up in. Answer honestly, the way things really are. A flattering answer sends the search off course.
We’ll ask for your date, place, time, and events in the questionnaire, once we’re in touch. The astrologer asks the everyday questions later, as the work goes on. You don’t need to enter your birth date or time on this site. The event dates are only for finding the minute.
We work on cases where the minute can be checked
We search for your minute of birth using events in your life. So we take on cases where there’s something to check it against.
- You know your time to within three hours and can date five or more important events. We take cases like this.
- Your time falls in a window of three to four hours, or you can date fewer than five events. We consider a case like this individually.
- You know only the date and the part of the day: morning, afternoon, evening, or night. Or only the date. We don’t take cases like these. Unless you know your time to within three or four hours, any minute we found would be made up. Instead, we’ll offer a personality reading without a birth time. It covers your character and strengths, but without tying them to areas of life like work or home, and without dates.
- We don’t search for the birth time of children or teenagers, because the search relies on events from adult life.
- For now, we don’t take cases for people born near or above the Arctic Circle, for example in northern Alaska or northern Scandinavia, because there a small error in the time makes a large error in the chart. A personality reading without a birth time is still possible in that case.
Before you pay, we tell you whether we can take your case.
Check whether your case is a good fitWhat’s included and what it costs
Checking a recorded time, $99. Your time is on a birth certificate or a hospital record. We check it against events in your life, and if they don’t confirm it, we search nearby.
Searching based on what relatives remember, $149. Your time is known from what relatives remember, to within three hours. We search for your minute within that range.
Either way, you get a document with the time we found and every step of how we got there, with all the calculations attached. Based on your questionnaire, we tell you which one fits your case before you pay. If you only know your time to within three or four hours, we consider the case individually and quote its price separately.
The birth time check is already included in the birth chart reading and the year-ahead forecast.
There are no surprise charges along the way. How long the work takes depends on how complex the case is, and we discuss it once you’ve filled out the questionnaire.
For two weeks after you receive the document, you can send us your questions about it in one email. We answer them at no extra cost.
All termsQuestions
I’m ordering a birth chart reading. Do I need to order the birth time check separately?
No. The birth time check is included in the birth chart reading and the year-ahead forecast. People order it on its own when they only need the time, for example to take it to their own astrologer.
My birth time was recorded at the hospital. Why would it need checking?
The time is written down after the birth and often rounded to the nearest five or fifteen minutes, sometimes to the nearest half hour. A quarter of an hour moves the dates in a forecast by several years. That’s why we check a recorded time against events in your life. The search is narrower, and the price is lower.
What if you can’t take my case?
We’ll tell you right away, based on your questionnaire and before you pay. If there’s no reference point for the time at all, we’ll offer a personality reading without a birth time. It covers your character and strengths, without tying them to areas of life like work or home, and without dates.
Why ask about my clothes and my paperwork?
Times a few minutes apart paint different pictures of your appearance, the way you carry yourself, and the atmosphere of the home you grew up in. Everyday details help us choose between them when events alone aren’t enough.
I’m an astrologer. Can I order a rectification for a client?
Yes. We don’t need the client’s name. The date and place of birth, the time as far as it’s known, and dated events are enough. For each event, the document shows what the time we found is based on, and it lists the options that were ruled out. You can check the work with your own methods.
Who will see my life events?
The event dates are only for finding the minute. We keep them, and we never sell them or share them with anyone except the services we technically need to do the work. At your request, we’ll delete them from the system. Details are in our privacy policy.
How your birth time is found
Each search is done by a practicing astrologer working with a calculation system. The system works through the possible times, and the astrologer decides which one is yours. The astrologer stands behind the result.
So every result combines a person’s judgment with precise calculation. Every document states that it was prepared with the help of artificial intelligence.
Is your case a good fit?
Your minute of birth decides whether a reading is about you or about someone born ten minutes earlier. A few short questions will show whether we can work with your birth time.
We don’t work with the charts of children or teenagers, or with people born near or above the Arctic Circle.
Who we can help
| Your case | What we’ll tell you |
|---|---|
| Up to three hours, and five or more dated life events | Your case is a good fit. We’ll check and refine your birth time against events in your life. With a birth chart reading or a year-ahead forecast, that’s included in the price. |
| Three to four hours, or fewer than five dated life events | We may be able to take a case like this, but we decide case by case. The search is harder, and the price depends on the details. Write to us and we’ll take a look. |
| No birth time at all, or more than four hours | We don’t take on cases like this: unless you know your time to within three or four hours, any minute we found would be made up. What we can offer instead is a personality reading without a birth time. It covers your character, your strengths, and what’s harder for you, but without tying them to areas of life or dates. |
We don’t work with the charts of children or teenagers, or with people born near or above the Arctic Circle.
